Nobody likes dry, irritable and itchy skin. Dry skin can be caused by various reason like environment, pollution, heredity, hormonal issues, medical conditions and extremely cold and low humidity.
There are many external factors as well that causes dry skin – like harsh soaps or chemicals, overuse of alcohol based products like sanitizers, usage of some specific drugs or medicines etc.
There is layer called lipid layer in our skin which is major reason that keeps our skin soft and supple as it is the fatty or oily substance which protect our skin from external factors. It is found in the Stratum Corneum layer of the epidermis where it is stacked in the lipid bilayers, this is like a glue that holds the dead skin cells (outer most layer) together and traps water. You can also refer it as sebum oil.
Any damage to this layer can make your skin dry as it will not be able to hold the moisture. One who faces dry skin can be another reason that you are not eating healthy. Try consuming food which contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in your diet like nuts, eggs, dairy, fish, coconut oil, legumes like kidney beans (rajma) etc.
